Services/Mobile & PWAs
Progressive web apps that install like an app.

What a PWA is, and why it matters.
A progressive web app sits between a website and a phone app. It loads fast, works offline, installs on the home screen and can send push notifications.
A large share of your visitors reach you on a phone, so building for mobile first isn't optional any more. A PWA gives them an app-like experience while you look after just one codebase.
What you get
- Works on any device, in any browser
- Loads quickly, even on slow networks
- Keeps working offline or with poor reception
- Installs without an app store
- Push notifications to bring people back
What I build.
From a full PWA to adding offline support and notifications to the site you already have.
PWA development
A full progressive web app built from scratch, or your existing website turned into one.
Includes service worker, app manifest, home screen installation and app-like navigation.
Offline functionality
Smart caching that keeps the app working when people lose their connection.
Includes offline page access, background sync, data caching and an offline-first structure.
Push notifications
Timely, relevant notifications that bring people back to your app.
Includes web push, scheduling, user segmentation and analytics tracking.
Performance work
Fast load times that keep people on the page and support your search rankings.
Includes core Web Vitals, lazy loading, image optimisation and code splitting.
Mobile-first design
Screens designed for touch, small displays and use on the go from the start.
Includes touch-friendly controls, responsive layouts, gestures and thumb-reach layout.
PWA conversion
Your current website turned into a progressive web app without a full rebuild.
Includes a PWA audit, service worker, manifest setup and performance fixes.
How I build a PWA.
Four stages, from looking at your current mobile experience through to launch. I build with React, Vue or Angular and test on real devices.
Mobile audit
I look at your current mobile experience and find where PWA features will help most.
Design
Mobile-first designs that put touch and fast loading first.
Develop
I build it with service workers, caching and offline support in place.
Test and launch
Testing across devices and browsers, then launch with Lighthouse scores that meet Google's standards.

Do I need a native app if I have a PWA?
For most businesses, no. A PWA covers what a typical business app needs at a fraction of the cost. You only need a native app for specific hardware features like Bluetooth or advanced camera controls.
Do PWAs work on iOS?
Yes. Safari supports most PWA features, including offline mode, home screen installation and full-screen display. Push notifications on iOS need iOS 16.4 or later.
How do people install a PWA?
Straight from your website, no app store required. They see an "Add to Home Screen" prompt, and the PWA appears alongside their other apps.
Will my existing website work as a PWA?
Most websites can have PWA features added. I'll audit your site and recommend the best approach, whether that's a full rebuild or adding features to what you have.
How much faster are PWAs?
After the first visit, a PWA loads almost instantly from cache instead of pulling everything back over the network, so repeat visits feel noticeably faster than a traditional mobile website.
Can PWAs be listed in app stores?
Yes. With a Trusted Web Activity, your PWA can be packaged and listed on the Google Play Store. The Microsoft Store also accepts PWAs directly.
